Bacteria help create renewable biofuels

Non-renewable sources of energy is now depleting all over the world.
With modern day urbanization, the consumption of energy has increased with the number of vehicles and electrical gadgets increasing day by day. This has in turn led to the decrease in fuel resources and an increase in global warming.

This is why researchers from across the world has set about looking for alternate forms of renewable energy to meet the energy needs of the future.

One such source of renewable energy is biofuels that is produced from food crops, with the help of specially engineered bacteria. This breakthrough was achieved by a group of German scientists who were looking for an efficient means of producing a renewable source of energy.

Biofuel or biodiesel is an alternate source of energy that is made in a large scale in many countries today. However the method used to create this biodiesel today is very expensive. Basically, plant oils from seeds of oilseed crops like soy or rapeseed is used for producing biodiesel.

And to produce this biofuel, lots of land or acreage is required. This is a factor that is today limiting the widespread production and use of biodiesel. In addition to this factor, in many countries, the production of biodiesel competes with the production of food. This tends to raise some ethical concerns in many countries.

However in the latest process of producing the biofuel a new product, micro diesel, is the result of this process. This is a biofuel that is produced in different methods where not only is the same plant oils used for its production, even bulk plant materials and recycled waste paper can be used for its production if its production strain is done with advanced engineering methods.

In addition to this, micro diesel does not depend on the addition of toxic material from fossil resources for its production, as in the case of other biodiesel. Instead, you find that the bacterium that is used for producing micro diesel uses its own sources of ethanol. With this, there is a lowering of the costs of production which in turn signifies that the fuel is made using 100% renewable resources.

In addition to this, you find that the rates of the raw materials that is used in the production of micro diesel is indeed very low. Moreover as this raw material is found in abundance, you find that the process used in the production of micro diesel gives a larger production of this biofuel at more competitive prices that make it perfect for its production and use in the future.

Today, there are numerous cars and homes that are powered with the help of fuels that is produced with the help of microbes. In fact, with this improved need and production of micro diesel at lowered costs and better rates, ministers in UK intend to double the target for the amount of biofuels that is to be sold in UK by the year 2015.

    It is realy good and i would like to learn more about micro biofuel as i have a very vague idea but i must say if it is possible with bacteria it is realy a great thing

    Hi,
    I am in a newer class called emerging technology tools and I need some help on the whole bacteria aspect of making Biodiesel. Is there anyway you could help me out. They just started a lab at school where they are using cooking oil to make the gas that goes into the lawn mowers but we are trying to figure out how bacteria can make the biodiesel. I just got hit with this last week and caught me off guard but anything you can do to help let me know.
