Great article! I absolutely love solar technology and hope to see further advances in the near future as this stimulus packet begins to fund research and development of renewable energy sources. It's definitely time to free ourselves from the power grid...we could do it independently for almost free, or we could wait years for the government to finally get around to building solar and wind plants.

If we begin to use less electricity, or increase renewable energy sources, then will can drastically reduce our carbon emissions by 2010.The fastest solution is for individuals to start investing in change by installing renewable energy systems in their homes. This will get them off the grid and produce less emissions from generating electricity.

Now is the best time to do it, with all the tax credits available to 'green homes.' The thing that can be most costly is the installation, which you may have to pay a contractor $2,000.00 USD for an entire system. If you want to save money on the system installation you can pick up a renewable energy guide to do it yourself for under $300.00 USD.

Here is the best do-it-yourself guide that I've found: www.ournerg.com/energy-by-earth.php

You can actually GAIN money from installing a renewable energy system in your home, as I believe the tax credit is up to $5,000.00!
